Introducing the New IFC Guidelines for Blue Finance
At the webinar, we explored the updated IFC Guidelines for Blue Finance. Since its first publication in 2022, the blue economy business has evolved, expanding the blue finance market. Lessons learned from global blue finance transactions have helped to refine blue project eligibility criteria. New technologies and businesses in the sustainable blue economy prompted an expansion of the blue finance sub-categories. Developments in the sustainable finance market allowed a broader scope of financial instruments with a blue focus. In addition to these developments, eight large and diverse relevant blue economy stakeholders partnered with IFC to create this practical guidance for corporations, financial institutions, and other market players.
